Many people who first start to moderate their drinking and even quit entirely do so only after a few attempts.
As with any life goal, there may be setbacks, but don’t let them keep you from reaching your long-term goal. Urges and cravings to drink can be difficult to deal with but, one of the biggest tips we can offer is to ‘ride the wave’ of them – this is called urge surfing.
Like a wave, every craving starts off small, builds up to its highest point, and then it breaks and flows away. Every time you surf this urge and chose not to give in you will reduce its impact.
Be persistent, you will get there!
